Where do I start?
Letting someone into your home and behind the scenes of your daily life is a very personal experience. It’s important that you feel comfortable working side-by-side with the person you’ve hired. I’m mindful of this and so to make things more comfortable, I offer a complimentary in-home consultation where you’ll give me a tour of your space. We’ll then discuss your favorite elements, along with the things that are driving you crazy on a daily basis. The consultation appointment usually takes about an hour. I want to make sure you like my ideas and are on board with our organizing plan. Once we decide the extent of your organizing needs, I will provide you with an hourly rate based on those needs. We’ll make an appointment where we’ll start to implement all the things we discussed at the consultation appointment.
I have tried to get organized in the past without success. How will this be different?
We all know how to organize to some degree. Most of us have tried to get organized on our own before. We start organizing, but before long it seems that we somehow interrupted our organizing and started shuffling things around without a plan. I compare my services to that of a personal trainer. We all know that we have to eat right and exercise. The problem is that we may not know what to eat or which exercises to do or maybe not sure of the duration, etc.
I love showing people how to stay on task, organize to their intended objective all while I work side-by-side with them as we sort and organize their space. I’ll teach you organizing tips and plan-ahead systems to keep you organized after we’ve found our neutral place. Once we organize together, you can immediately see the benefits of our hard work and you’ll grow more capable of your organizing abilities as you practice my techniques.
As we all know, there’s no secret to staying in shape- the same is true for organizing. There’s no magic to staying organized. Once we implement a system that will work for you, the only thing left for you to do is keep up on maintaining your space.
Can I get an estimate over the phone?
It’s difficult to offer time estimates over the phone because every client is different. You can live in a 3,000 square foot home with 3 boxes of clutter or 2,900 square feet of clutter. However, I do charge by the hour and recommend working in sessions of 3-4 hours per appointment. This time goes by fast and the progress we will achieve in just one day can be monumental.
The total amount of time we work together depends on a variety of factors including how quickly you can make decisions on what you would like to keep and what you are comfortable removing from your space. It also depends on how much “homework” you’d like me to give you at the end of each session.
How do I prepare for the initial appointment?
Resist the urge to clean up before our consultation appointment. In order for me to make an accurate assessment of your organizing needs, I need to see your space as it is on a daily basis. I make our organizing plan based on what I see. If I see nothing, it’s difficult for me to come up with the perfect solution to your organizing challenge.
Will you make me throw away my stuff?
There’s no need to throw everything away to get organized. We’re just going to be more intentional about where we keep everything. I’ll never make you get rid of your things. I want you to surround yourself with the things that you love! What I’m interested in are the things that don’t make you happy. I’ll help you make decisions about what to keep and what to say goodbye to. Removing the things that are jamming up your life and not working for you will give you clarity and make room for the things that you enjoy.
